THIS IS THE BEST POEM EVER
Home by Maggie Nawrocki

My home is far
Far away from here
I go up to it a few times a year
When I arrive I’m met with the familiar sight
The one I could only dream of at night
I get checked in and grab my big duffle bag
Packed to the brim making it heavy to drag
I get to my bunk and the room seems to glow
I see new friends and I can’t wait for our camp love to grow
I Kissed my parents goodbye and off they went
It feels so safe here in this outdoor cabin tent
The next day, we have fun events on the plan
Like swimming in the lake and make your own fan
We have our fun and do it all day
Then we go back and our bunks are where we lay
A deep question is asked and answered every night
I found a new family the world seems so bright
Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner is filled with song
Come everybody let’s all sing along
The week rushes by too quick and too fast
I wish this week was forever I just want it to last
One final ceremony to say our goodbyes
We sniffle, we sing, we listen, we cry
My new sisters and brothers who I look nothing like
I already miss their laughter and our talks by fire light
I miss it all and now I feel so blue
I miss the stories being told and of course the counselors too
They say a home is four walls and a door
Mine has people who I absolutely adore
My home is far
Far away from here
But that’s ok
I can’t wait to see it this year
